THC plasma torch height adjuster
Ex Tax: 159.09€
The device is a modern analog-microprocessor controller of the height of the plasma torch above the cut material based on the analysis of changes in voltage generated by the plasma source. Equipped with a clear LED display and keys, operation is very simple and does not require any additional measuring devices.
Its structure includes patented solutions made of the highest quality elements ensuring safety. comfortable and reliable long-term operation. Cooperation, e.g. with the MACH program. EMC2. CNConv. The system works with any plasma source.
How to connect the THC regulator with mach3
Simplified block diagram:Pilot Arc Voltage Eliminator - a system responsible for eliminating possible AC "pins" that are dangerous to the electronics. which may come from plasma source systems with contactless arc ignition (HV/HF pilot arc) generating high voltage or from overvoltages coming from plasma cutters equipped with a contact arc ignition system.
Main Arc Voltage Divider - when the cutter is operating, it generates a voltage that is dangerous to the precision electronics. which is reduced to a safe value in the divider system.
Filter systems are fast filters that eliminate interference. which may get behind the voltage divider.
The microprocessor block receives the filtered and scaled voltage of the main cutting arc. It is the most important block of the device. Its "brain" is a programmed microprocessor. which, in addition to analyzing the cutting voltage parameters and appropriate control of the output block, also supports an LED display and function keys.
The built-in switching power supply ensures operation in a wide range of supply voltages without the need to dissipate heat from the components.
The power supply block is galvanically separated from the rest of the system, which allows it to use voltage from existing systems to power it.
a relay output system to which the computer controllers/inputs responsible for e.g. controlling the motor of the CNC plasma cutting axis are connected.

The output voltage of the plasma source should be connected to the input/measuring terminals of the device marked on the housing as "Plasma Voltage", and the minimum degree of insulation of the cables should be matched to the maximum voltage occurring on the output terminals of the plasma generator - the voltage should be given in the documentation of your plasma source. The output voltage of the plasma unit (plasma source) is understood as the voltage occurring during cutting between the cut material and the ELECTRODE of the plasma torch. Pay attention to the polarity of the connected voltage - reverse connection will not damage the system, but the device will not work.
The system power supply should be connected to the power supply terminals. Maintain polarity + / - :
Description of control outputs: The COM terminal is a common terminal of the output relays connected to the relay contacts inside the device according to the diagram located on the device housing (drawing above).
The ARC terminal is connected to the NO contact of the internal relay. which is switched on after detecting the main/cutting arc ignition.
The UP terminal is connected to the NO contact of the internal relay (lift signal). which is turned on when the measured voltage is lower than the set voltage minus half the hysteresis voltage.
The DWN terminal is connected to the NO contact of the internal relay (lowering signal). which is turned on when the measured voltage is higher than the set voltage plus half the hysteresis voltage.
Note: No output relays are turned on when only the pilot arc is detected and when the main arc is broken.
Operation algorithm:
Commissioning and operation: The device is pre-configured at the factory and after proper connection, it immediately works correctly with most plasma devices.
After switching on the power supply to the THC controller, an "animated" inscription "thc" should appear on the display for a moment and the set voltage value should flash for 1 second. The device is then undergoing automatic calibration. The device ready for operation displays "- - -" which means. that there is no voltage at the input.
In this state, using the "up and down" buttons, you can modify the set voltage and thus the set height of the burner above the material. Pressing it once briefly displays the set value without modifying it
To set other parameters, hold both buttons simultaneously until the desired parameter is displayed - after releasing the buttons, its value will be displayed - use the up/down buttons to set the desired value:
"HYS" (Hysteresis) - Hysteresis voltage - this is the "band span" of the measured voltage in which no UP / DOWN 2-100V control signals are issued
"d - t" (Delay Time) – delay time for controlling the outputs after the main (cutting) arc is detected by the system 0.1 – 9.9s
"H - U" (High Voltage (U)) – a value determining the value of detecting the no-load voltage of the plasma cutter – used to detect the break of the main (cutting) arc 50-250V
"tSt" (Test) - Simulation of controller operation - the system simulates the appearance of "floating" voltage within the set values - this causes the inputs to be controlled, which allows for easy testing of further automation systems without the need to turn on the plasma burner.
When starting the plasma cutter, the display displays the measured voltage value and the LEDs indicate the current status of the control outputs. A rapid flashing of the measured value indicates that a pilot arc has been detected. continuous display indicates that the main (cutting) arc has been detected.
