Surge arrester class B+C 4P 12.5kA Professional (spark gap)

We offer you a high-class B+C surge protector from Pro-Tec. A lightning arrester (varistor) is an electrical device designed to protect the local electrical network and devices connected to it against sudden, transient overvoltages caused, for example, by a lightning strike directly on an overhead power line. The product is designed to limit the frequency of the resulting follow current and shorten its duration. In this way, the electrical installation and all devices currently connected to it can be protected.

This type of protection is used in low voltage installations (up to 1000 V). The offered device combines class B and C features (type 1 and type 2), making it perfect for home use. Separate class B devices are directly responsible for protection against damage to the installation due to overvoltages that occur as a result of lightning striking the installation and minimize the voltage to 2.5 kV. Class C devices protect the installation against slightly smaller overloads, reducing the voltage to 1.5 kV. Protectors of subsequent classes should be used in cascade to gradually reduce the voltage level (class D reduces to 0.8 kV). If we have one switchboard at home, we use both class B and C protectors (there are also 2 in 1 protectors, i.e. B + C). The device has four modules and has a protection level of IP20. It reduces the voltage to less than 1 kV. The maximum discharge current can be up to 65 kA at peak.

It is important to remember about efficient grounding, because a high-resistance installation may direct electricity into the building, which will damage the network and any devices connected to it. The cross-sections of the connections must not exceed 35 mm2 so that the user can install them correctly.
