Individually addressed RGB LEDs, arranged in 1 meter strip, have a density of 144 diodes per meter. Each pixel can propagate colors from a 24-bit palette. One microcontroller pin is enough to control the module. (e.g. Arduino). The diodes are arranged densely at a distance of about 7mm, so their brightness is very high. However, high power requires an efficient energy supply. The system is powered by 5V, each meter (9 W) requires approximately 1.8A. The circuit can be cut under each diode. The communication protocol used allows the LEDs to be connected in series. Another circuit should be connected to the output terminal, connecting 5V, GND and DOUT to DIN respectively. The manufacturer notes that using more than 500 diodes in an Arduino Uno system may not be enough RAM. It should also be noted that the energy efficiency of the energy source will need to be increased for each subsequent matrix.


Installation of the Adafruit library for Arduino:

  • Download the library from the website GtitHub by clicking the button Download ZIP
  • Rename the root folder to: Adafruit_NeoPixel
  • Move the entire folder to the directory that contains the Arduino libraries
  • Restart the Arduino environment, the library will appear in the menu: File -> Examples
