The Raspberry Pi DAC Pro is based on the Burr Brown PCM5242 32-bit/384kHz converter and enables Full HD 24-bit/192kHz audio playback. The PCM5242 is the bigger brother of the PCM5122 that was used in the IQaudIO DAC+, providing balanced output, better signal-to-noise ratio and THD. The module has two RCA connectors, a mini jack connector and supports balanced/differential XLR output. The communication overlay uses the I2S interface to reduce the CPU load on the Raspberry Pi. IQaudIO was acquired by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, which provides ongoing support for Raspberry Pi users.

The DAC Pro comes complete with a headphone amplifier, software-controlled volume, and shared line-out. The XLR connection in the form of gold pin connectors allows you to connect to studio equipment or speakers powered by a longer cable.

The board has soldered gold pins that allow you to connect additional accessories to the Raspberry Pi GPIO.

The drivers required for the correct operation of the sound card are built into the Linux system, including the Raspberry Pi OS.
