Equipped with 8GB of RAM, the Raspberry Pi 5 is the next installment in the iconic raspberry series. This device has two microHDMI connectors, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports. In addition, it has a USB C power connector, two interfaces for a camera and a MIPI DSI/CSI display, a PCI Express 2.0 connector, a space for a fan, a UART connector, a space for an RTC battery, and a dedicated power button. There's also dual-band WiFi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5 BLE and a fast 1000Mb/s Ethernet port with PoE power capability.
Raspberry Pi 5 8GB
Featuring 8GB of LPDDR4X-4267 RAM, the Raspberry Pi 5 is powered by a quad-core Broadcom BCM2712 ARM Cortex-A76 64-bit processor clocked at 2.4GHz, which is 2-3 times more efficient than its Raspberry Pi 4 predecessor. The fifth version of this iconic series includes two microHDMI ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 and a USB C power port 2.0 port, a fan slot, a UART port, a RTC battery slot, and a dedicated power button. The Raspberry Pi 5 also features dual-band WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 BLE, and a fast 1000 Mb/s Ethernet port with the ability to power over PoE using the PoE+ HAT overlay. The board has a standard 40-pin GPIO connector (2x20-pin, 2.54 mm pitch) and a slot for a microSD memory card with an operating system. In addition, next to the typical mounting holes, there are holes for mounting the official radiator with a fan.

Raspberry Pi 5 changes
  • Multiple versions: The Raspberry Pi 5 is available in several versions that differ in the amount of RAM: 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB.
  • BCM2712 Processor: Broadcom BMC2712 Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A76 64-bit clocked at 2.4GHz is 60% faster than its predecessor.
  • PCIe 2.0 connector: The fifth version of the Raspberry Pi is equipped with a high-speed PCI Express 2.0 connector, which allows the connection of peripheral devices for fast data transfer.
  • RTC Battery Connector: A dedicated connector allows you to connect a real-time battery (RTC) to maintain the current date and time.
  • UART connector: The board has a UART connector to which you can connect a debugger.
  • Two CSI/DSI connectors: The Raspberry Pi 5 has two 4-line MIPI CSI/DSI connectors in a mini 22-pin format with 0.5mm pitch, to which you can connect a camera and a display or two cameras/two displays.
  • ON/OFF button: The Raspberry Pi mini computer can now be turned on/off using the power button. The button can also be used to wake Raspberry from deep sleep. If you press the button for a long time, the minicomputer stops.
  • Raspberry Pi RP1 Chip: The RP1 chip was specifically designed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to support I/O interfaces, freeing up the minicomputer's main processor, making the Raspberry Pi 5 significantly more efficient than its older predecessors.
  • Connector Layout: The board outline remains the same as previous versions, but the interface layout has changed.
Video and audio on the Raspberry Pi 5
The fifth edition of the Raspberry Pi offers two microHDMI connections, allowing the transmission of video and audio in 4K quality at 60 frames per second. The Raspberry Pi 5 has two 4-inline MIPI CSI/DSI ports that allow you to connect two displays with 4K resolution or two cameras. The device uses a VideoCore VII GPU with a clock frequency of 800 MHz. The CSI/DSI ports have 22 lines with 0.5mm pitch, which means that an appropriate adapter is required to use previous accessories.

Raspberry Pi OS operating system
The Raspberry Pi 5 has a microSD memory card slot (with SDR104 in high-speed mode) used to boot the Raspberry Pi OS system. It is also possible to boot the system from the device's USB port. Our range includes memory cards with a pre-installed operating system, ready to use right out of the box. Raspberry Pi 5 is compatible with Raspberry Pi OS starting with Bookworm.
Communication using Raspberry Pi 5
The fifth version of the Raspberry Pi retains the popular interfaces you know from typical PCs. The main ones are:
  • Two microHDMI connectors that allow you to connect two monitors at the same time and display a 4K quality image.
  • WiFi module - dual-band, operating in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, conforming to the 802.11b/g/n/ac standard.
  • Bluetooth LE module - modern wireless Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) version 5.0.

4 USB ports - two of them are USB 2.0 and the other two are faster USB 3.0, supporting 5 Gb/s simultaneous operations, ideal for connecting various external devices.
Ethernet socket - allows fast connection to the network up to 1000 Mb/ speed. In addition, Raspberry Pi 5 (PoE+ HAT user overlay) can be powered through this socket.
GPIO - consists of 40 General Purpose I/O pins with interfaces such as I2C, SPI and UART. They are for a variety of applications such as control LEDs, buttons, motor controls and much more.

Raspberry Pi 5 power supply
The Raspberry Pi 5 has a USB Type-C port for powering the device. The new edition of this iconic series requires a 5V power supply and at least 5A current. Our range includes original power supplies as well as high-quality replacements compatible with Raspberry Pi 5. The default final maximum current for Effects USB ports is 600mA, but when a USB C power supply with Power Delivery is detected, the limit will be enhanced to 1.6A.
