The FY020 series linear actuators are industrial, waterproof electric actuators dedicated to high loads. The actuator is equipped with a built-in potentiometer that allows you to determine the position of the actuator, e.g. using a microcontroller or PLC controller. The potentiometer always allows you to read the absolute current position of the actuator, a solution that does not require "homing".
Applications of linear actuators:
- Opening windows and doors
- Linear drives of machine elements
- Widely used in agriculture and automotive - extendable pipes, steps
- Implementation of "Tracking" in photovoltaic installations
- Realization of movement of equipment elements of intelligent buildings
- Replacing pneumatic actuators in places where there is no access to compressed air installations
Construction of a linear actuator:
The housing of the FY020 electric actuator is made of a durable aluminum alloy, the piston rod is a thick-walled tube made of high-quality steel. Additional seals and hermetic connections of actuator elements ensure tightness at the IP65 standard.
The actuator uses a cylindrical gear transmission on steel wheels with straight teeth, which guarantees long and failure-free operation. The gearbox is coupled to a screw mechanism built into the piston rod of the linear actuator. The screw mechanism consists of a trapezoidal screw with a high-strength polymer nut. This solution ensures long-term, failure-free operation of the mechanism due to the self-lubricating properties of the material from which the nut is made.
The actuator motor is a brushed DC motor with a peak power of 240W. The rated voltage for this actuator is 24V, which is a very common standard in industrial automation.
Installation of the electric actuator:
The electric actuator is mounted using 12mm pins, pivoting at its base and in the piston rod hole.
Electric actuator control:
The use of a classic DC brush motor ensures very simple actuator control. After applying voltage to the actuator terminals, it advances. After reversing the polarity of the supply voltage, the actuator folds. We can regulate the actuator's extension speed by adjusting its supply voltage.
Limit switches are permanently installed inside the electric actuator housing. They prevent the piston rod from extending too far or from getting stuck when retracting.
After applying the supply voltage, the actuator extends until it reaches full extension. Once full extension is achieved, the nut inside activates the limit switch and the actuator stops. After reversing the power supply polarity, the actuator retracts until it is fully retracted and activates the second limit switch.
We can control the actuator using a radio control unit with relays, manually using buttons and relays, or use PLC systems, intelligent buildings or other advanced systems based on microcontrollers.
The actuators are equipped with a built-in potentiometer with a resistance of 10Kohm. Potentiometers built into the actuators operate in the range of 0-10KOHM, voltages up to 24V can be connected to them in order to use the potentiometer as an analog output. If you want to use the actuator's analog output (middle leg of the potentiometer, black cable), you need to calibrate it - determine the voltage at the output at maximum and minimum extension. Intermediate values will indicate the degree of extension of the rope actuator.
