Loctite 648 is a single-component anaerobic adhesive known for its fast-curing and high-strength properties, specifically designed for bonding cylindrical joints. It hardens upon exclusion of air when placed between closely fitting metal surfaces. This adhesive offers excellent resistance to elevated temperatures, making it suitable for applications where strength at high temperatures is essential.
Application:
Common uses of Loctite 648 include bonding fitted cylindrical parts, particularly in applications requiring strength at elevated temperatures. It is commonly employed for mounting gears and racks on gear shafts and rotors of electric motors. For optimal results, surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and degreased before application. The adhesive should completely fill the joint, and in loosely fitted connections, it should be applied around the shaft and the edge of the sleeve inlet. Rotational movement of the parts during assembly ensures accurate distribution of the adhesive.
