The Mega 2560 is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560. It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 15 can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. The Mega 2560 board is compatible with most shields designed for the Uno and the former boards Duemilanove or Diecimila.

• Power Supply DC Connector: You can use any power supply from 7V to 12V with a DC5.5x2.1mm connector to power the Arduino.
• Power supply USB port: The board can be powered from a computer via a USB cable, keeping in mind that the maximum current efficiency of the USB port is 500 mA. The Arduino has a system that protects the socket from short circuits and excessive current flow.
• ICSP connector: The module has ICSP pins for connecting an external AVR programmer.
• IOREF Pin: The IOREF pin allows direct access to the voltage at which the I/O pins operate.
• Integrated LED: An integrated LED on pin 13 allows simple program debugging.
• 3.3V output: the built-in voltage regulator allows you to power external devices with 3.3V with a current consumption of up to 50mA.

The Arduino MEGA development board is definitely an interesting proposition, especially for those who are already familiar with the Arduino UNO, but need a platform to run a very complex and demanding project. The integrated Atmega 2560 microcontroller has 16 analog inputs and 54 programmable digital I/Os for peripherals and buttons.
